UP: 63-Yr-Old Jeweller Who Was Abducted In Lucknow, Found In Nepal Police’s Custody

An abducted jeweller from Lucknow’s Keshav Nagar area was found in Nepal police’s custody as reported by the Deccan Chronicle. Reportedly, Indian police authorities are yet to ascertain if the Nepal police forcibly abducted the man on the night of 28th September when he was returning from the shop in Keshav Nagar, without informing the local police. In the CCTV footage, it can be seen that two unidentified men came in a white car and abducted 63-year-old jeweller, Kishorilal Soni. They dragged him forcibly into the car after that two people came on a two-wheeler, one of them took jeweller’s scooty and fled from the scene.

The jeweller has been arrested by Nepal police in relation to an old case

The family reportedly got a call the next day from Nepal Police, saying that Kishorilal has been arrested from Jamaha area in Nepal, in relation to a murder and dacoity incident which took place in 2006.

While speaking to India Today, Vikas Soni, son of Kishorilal, said “When my father didn’t return home from his shop till late evening we approached the local police station as both his mobile phones were switched off. A case was filed at the Madiaon police station. However, the next day we got a call from Nepal police that my father has been arrested from Jamaha area in their country related to an incident of murder and dacoity that took place in 2006.”

Vikas also told them that his sister Deepa got married to Deepak Khemkar, in Nepalganj Town of Banke district of Nepal in 2004. After the two years of their marriage, Deepak got killed in a heist that took place at his shop. Deepa stayed in Nepal and fought a legal battle for three years over her husband’s death and later came back to India. Deepa, Kishorilal’s daughter said that she also in India for treatment along with her my father when the dacoity took place at her husband’s shop in 2006.

The son told ANI that the UP police gave him a number on which a Nepal police personnel made him speak to his father. Kishorlal had then informed that he was abducted from near his jewellery shop, however, he didn’t know his present location.

What the Indian police have to say?

Deccan Chronicle quoted the SSP of Lucknow as saying that the man in under the Nepal police’s custody and that he has been taken into custody in connection with the abovementioned case. He said that they are in touch with the Nepal embassy and are also conducting a detailed investigation.

The SP told India Today that they have reported the matter to top authorities, the High Commission and central government because two countries are involved in this matter. The police are trying to ascertain whether the people who abducted the jeweller on 28 September were from Nepal Police or not.
