Kalpana Tiwari, the widow of murdered Apple executive Vivek Tiwari, was offered a government job by the Uttar Pradesh State Government on Thursday.
On the ‘thirteenth day’ of the death of Vivek Tiwari, who was allegedly shot dead by a UP police constable, Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma, and other BJP leaders, visited the family of the deceased, and offered Tiwari’s wife an appointment letter for a government job, reported The Hindustan Times. Kaushal Raj Sharma, District Magistrate, and Indramani Tripathi, the municipal commissioner accompanied the Dy CM during the proceedings.
She is determined to get justice for her husband
Kalpana Tiwari has been given the job as an OSD (officer on special duty) in Lucknow Municipal Corporation, as was demanded by her family. The Dy CM asserted that the job is expected to support the family. He added that the post of OSD had been created especially for her. The family has also been provided with a compensation of Rs 40 lakhs as financial aid by the state government. Indramani Tripathi said that Kalpana Tiwari had signed the appointment letter and she will start working soon.
However, commenting on the job offer, Kalpana Tiwari said that financial aid and job security would amount to nothing until and unless the law punishes her husband’s murderers. “Monetary compensation, job and assurances will mean nothing, if my husband’s killers are not punished as per law,” the Hindustan Times quoted her as saying.
She also said that the investigation is going in the right direction and she is satisfied with it at present.
The Incident
On 28th September night, 38-year-old, Vivek Tiwari, was allegedly shot by Constable Prashant Chaudhary in the Gomti Nagar Extension area when he was going to drop an ex-colleague home in his SUV. However, Chaudhary claims that he was forced to shoot Tiwari because he tried to run him over multiple times. Vivek Tiwari’s family filed a complaint against the constable and soon afterwards a case was registered against him. Later, the authorities arrested two constables, namely Prashant Chaudhary and Sandeep Kumar on the grounds of murder.
The Probe
As reported by UNI India, Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed for the case has not arrived at any decision yet. The SIT probe was initiated on September 30, one day after the alleged murder. Sujit Pandey, IG, Lucknow Range is heading the SIT with members including Dinesh Singh and Gaurav Grover, both ASPs, crime and rural respectively. Vikas Pandey, Mahanagar SHO is also part of the SIT. The SIT recreated the whole crime scene and collected vital data a day after the team was set up. They have been going through the evidence, examining the bike and SUV which were involved. According to sources, a report has been sent to the SHO, but the SIT is yet to conclude anything from it.
Political angle
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s provocative tweet about the whole incident was repudiated by Kalpana Tiwari. Kejriwal tried to put the UP government on the spot by involving religion in the entire case. This was frowned upon by many, and even the widow came out to say that the Delhi CM should have been commenting more practically on the entire issue instead of linking it to caste and religion.
The current situation
To recover from the shock of such great loss, slain Vivek Tiwari’s family is fighting for justice. Kalpana’s brother Vishnu Shukla said that she needs some time before she can resume normal life and that she still breaks down at the mention of her deceased husband. Her daughters, Priyanshi and Shivanshi, who are twelve and seven respectively have not gone back to school yet. Shivanshi is very young and is not able to comprehend the whole situation, but Priyanshi is very strong-willed and has been by her mother’s side all the time supporting her. They will be going back to school very soon. Kalpana said that the officials have been great at handling the case, and she urges them to speed up the process of investigation.
