Actor Suriya's Jai Bhim Movie Featured On Oscars YouTube Channel

The official YouTube channel of the Oscars has chosen to feature a clip of director Gnanavel explaining his critically acclaimed courtroom drama 'Jai Bhim', under its 'Scene At the Academy' segment.

Back in November last year, actor Suriya-starrer movie Jai Bhim directed by TJ Gnanavel had officially secured a post in the Golden Globes 2022 as a nomination under the genre of "Best Non-English Language Film". While that still remains a landmark feat, the Tamil movie has now added yet another feather to its cap after a scene from the film, plus the director's story narrative was featured on the official YouTube channel of the Oscars!

Talking Jai Bhim: The Movie

The entire movie revolves around a pregnant wife who is on the lookout for help from a specific advocate Chandry after her husband went missing while he was in Police custody. The movie managed to attract numerous controversies as it showcases caste basis preference and treatment by the police.

A Real-Life Tale

Starring Manikandan, Lijomol Jose and Suriya, Jai Bhim premiered directly on a popular OTT platform on November 2 last year. After the release of the film, Jai Bhim landed in numerous controversies. The entire plot of the movie weaves in real-life case studies helmed by Activist-Lawyer Chandru, who managed to bring justice to indigenous tribes in the state of Tamil Nadu with the help of his relentless efforts.

Meanwhile, writer-director TJ Gnanavel also had revealed that the narrative of the story was formed and executed.

This is not the first time that an Indian film has been picked up by the Oscars. In the past, movies like Lagaan, Gandhi, Jallikattu, Gullyboy, Newton, Mother India, etc have been featured at the Academy Awards, showcasing the creativity and cinematography of Indian directors and storytellers.
