The idea behind providing service at ₹ 10 is to help people save money for buying their medicines once they're diagnosed. Generally, consultation fees are not affordable to many people, and they’re left with no money to buy medicines.
Half the India lacks access to essential health care services, especially the vulnerable section. For people living in poverty, going to the doctor is a challenge and a stressful experience. Most of the minimum wages they earn go on health expenses, and if heaven forbid, any surgery is required, affordability remains a hindrance. Many have also died due to the poor quality of healthcare they receive.
Amidst all this, many good samaritans have come forward to revolutionise the services and stay true to their pledge of treating every patient regardless of their class, sex, creed, caste, etc.
One such samaritan is Dr Roseline from Hyderabad. The MBBS graduate provides services to the economically weaker people at just ₹10 at a clinic at the Ambedkar Bhavan in Neredmet, Medchal Malkajgiri district.
'Humanity First'
The doctor and an organiser are also providing lab facilities at half the actual rate. Per day, she attends 15 people at the place where she was born.
Speaking to news agency ANI, organiser Gopal informed that he has completed 30 years in the medical industry and always wanted to serve the poor people of the Medchal Malkajgiri district.
Gopal had approached Roseline with the idea of starting a clinic for the poor at an affordable price; however, she did not accept the offer immediately, given the time it would consume and the amount of money. Realising that serving the people of the area she grew up in was more important than the financial aspects.
Idea Behind ₹ 10 Clinic
The doctor said the idea behind providing service is to help people save money for buying their medicines once they're diagnosed. Generally, consultation fees are not affordable to many people, and they're left with no money to buy medicines.
Expand Services
The team is looking forward to expanding its initiative and adding gynecology, dermatology, and ENT services.
Several patients in the area spoke to the media and detailed how the service has helped them cover the cost of medicines and properly treat their diseases.
