On 1st April, a clash broke out between police and locals after residents attempted to approach the Collector's office in Narayanpur district to protest the Rowghat iron ore mining project, Thousands of residents from 22 villages assembled in Binjali village and marched to the Narayanpur District Collector's office to deliver a memorandum demanding the Rowghat project be halted. The police attempted to stop the protests by setting up barricades, but the rioters burst through them and made their way to the Collector's office.
