India has warned that terrorists are becoming more likely to obtain weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and has urged the UN Security Council to make preventing this a "top priority." "Preventing terrorist groups from acquiring and using weapons of mass destruction must be a central priority and responsibility of this Council and the international community," A. Amarnath, a counsellor in India's Permanent Mission to the UN, said on15th March He referenced a recent report by the Council's team investigating the Islamic State (IS) terror group, also known as Da'esh in Arabic, that it possessed WMDs.
