On May 9, Karnataka's first floating bridge at Malpe beach in Udupi collapsed three days after the inauguration. It was inaugurated by Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat on May 6. The operation of the floating bridge was suspended after it partially got dismantled due to the cyclonic weather. Rs. 80 lakh was spent on this floating bridge, which was expected to boost the state's tourism industry. Netizens have taken this to social media and expressed their worries over its vulnerability.
